Not sure where the idea came from but I thought it would be fun to send joke cards to friends. Yet another project I thought of on the fly and quickly prepared while my dad stopped over for coffee. I googled some silly kids jokes, wrote them onto cardstock and let the boys go crazy with markers. Trexen carefully chose each joke for very specific friends while Pacey giggled at every one not even knowing what the funny part was.
I addressed envelopes and the boys decorated the cards with bright colors.
Everyone was happy and enjoying the little project until yet another fly by the seat of my pants thought popped into my head.
I thought it would be fun to send a few stickers or temporary tattoos in each card, little did I know this small idea would send my ever so passionate, high strung three year old into an uncontrollable tizzy.
One of the joke cards was going to Trexen's cousin Grace and I thought she may enjoy a penguin sticker. As I proceeded to cut the sticker out of the boy's sticker book he started sobbing. Apparently that was baby Happy Feet and I took him away from his family (the other penguin stickers). This led to him rolling around, yelling, crying, throwing markers and sitting on a timeout for many many minutes. Pacey continued to color but said "not nice" over and over while I tried to ignore it.
Trexen rides a roller coaster, ALL DAY LONG. When he is happy he is fantastic, funny and a pure delight but when one little pebble happens to fall on that coaster track it is ugly. He is extremely serious and tends to get worked up over the most ridiculous things. By far Trex is my challenge and will most likely be all summer long but that won't stop us from attempting projects, trying new things and rolling with the tantrums.
