One of Those Days

Today was just one of those days, where nothing goes as planned and everything seems difficult. We were supposed to celebrate a three year old's birthday today with a fun firefighter theme and trip to a fire station. However last night instead of me coming home to a finished bathroom I found a lonely toilet half working in a bare bathroom. The vanity we picked out and loved didn't fit with our plumbing and the new, expensive toilet was missing a part.

So instead of a fun birthday we took the boys and headed for Home Depot. Jeff and I almost never take the boys shopping when we need to actually think but we thought if we bribed them with a trip to a super fun park all would be fine. Ha, a few minutes in the first store and we were proved wrong. As I paced the aisles frustrated with lack of choices the boys screamed, laughed, poked each other in the face, buckled and unbuckled their belts and threw Pacey's monkey around. Somehow we became one of those families, the ones that half the shoppers feel bad for and the other half glares at wishing you would just leave the store.

A trip to Menards, back to Home Depot and three hours later we were finally checking out with a vanity. After our first visit to Home Depot the boys started cooperating and were excellent but it probably was because I gave them a sheet of stickers to decorate the cart. To the poor Home Depot employee who has to peel fifty stickers off the cart, I am so sorry.

The park was great, relaxing and lots of space for running. We made it home and began to install the new vanity (do you like how I say "we"), only to find the mirror that was supposed to be included was certainly not included. Oh me oh my! Tomorrow brings a new day, another trip to Home Depot and hopefully better success in the bathroom. Forgot to add I left my phone in the car all day and didn't get any pictures to document the day.

On the upside I managed to make a matching journal and coffee cozy which I love. They will be available at my Poplin Party this week!
